The internship program provided an invaluable opportunity for seven individuals from the Singingi District Smallholder Farmers Consortium to gain hands-on experience in the rubber downstream industry. The Singingi District has long been recognized as a major rubber producer, making it an ideal location to cultivate the growth of downstream activities.
Throughout the five-day internship, participants were exposed to various aspects of the rubber downstream industry, from production to processing and marketing. They were given a comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain and its significance in creating value-added rubber products. The program included both theoretical sessions conducted by industry experts and practical sessions where participants were able to apply their learnings in real-world scenarios.
The internship aimed to address two main objectives: to fulfill the domestic demand for rubber products and to stimulate local economic development. With a focus on increasing the production and capacity of rubber downstream industries, the program emphasized the importance of developing local enterprises rather than relying solely on imported rubber products. By expanding the rubber downstream sector, Singingi District aimed to create employment opportunities for residents, generate revenue, and contribute to the growth of the regional economy.

The participants had the opportunity to work with professionals in the field, observing and learning from their experience. They gained insights into the operational processes involved in rubber compund production, rubber-based product manufacturing, and quality control. Additionally, they were exposed to marketing strategies, branding, and market research techniques to help them understand how to position their products effectively.
The internship concluded with a sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm among the participants. The newfound knowledge they gained during the program will undoubtedly contribute to the development of their respective communities. Equipped with practical skills and an understanding of the industry dynamics, the participants are now better prepared to establish their own rubber downstream enterprises and create a positive impact within their local economies.
The rubber downstream industry internship provided a platform for the Singingi District Smallholder Farmers Consortium to enhance their knowledge and skills in the rubber sector. By empowering smallholder farmers with the necessary tools and expertise, the program aims to spearhead the growth of the rubber downstream industry in the region.
